It is important that you know the warning signs when you get pregnant which will let you be ready for any eventuality. Knowing the warning signs will let you get the treatment on time.

Bleeding from the vagina

It could be frightening to experience bleeding from the vagina when you are pregnant. Bleeding could happen because of implantation of the embryo which happens in the early stages of pregnancy and is nothing to get worried about. Having sex could lead to a small tear which could also be the reason for the bleeding.

The serious cases of bleeding when the placenta is close to the cervix, your cervix opening up or miscarriage. Also if you experience pain along with bleeding then this could be because of an ectopic pregnancy.

If you experience any bleeding, even if it is mild, it is important that you see your doctor immediately.

Temperature

Fever, when you are pregnant, is a serious complication. This could be because of an illness or an infection that may not related to pregnancy. If the fever subsides within a day or two then it is nothing to worry about. If the fever has not gone away after two days then you may need to take some antibiotics. However, high fever needs immediate medical care.

Excess of nausea and vomiting

It is common to complain of nausea and vomiting when you are pregnant. This happens because of the release of pregnancy hormones in the body. However, if you experience an excess of vomiting or nausea then this could be a concern. You may have hyperemesis gravidarum where you get dehydrated because you are unable to have anything. This needs medical attention and is cured with medication or an intravenous drip.

Discharge from the vagina

Any discharge from the vagina that feels abnormal shouldn’t be ignored. The discharge could be mucous, watery or even bloody and this needs treatment. It is especially true if the discharge has a foul smell. If you have a bloody discharge then this could be a miscarriage. If you are over 37 weeks pregnant then the discharge is a sign that you are going into labor.

Pain in the leg or the calf

It is common to experience cramps during pregnancy but if it causes excess pain then this could be because of deep vein thrombosis or DVT that happens because of a blood clot in the leg. You may feel the severe pain that does not go away even after stretching and the affected leg may get swollen. It is important that you consult a doctor.

Water break

The rupture of the membrane or breaking of water happens when the protective membrane or the sac that has your baby and the amniotic fluid gets broken. This is something that will happen when you go into labor before the baby delivery. But if you experience this when you have still not reached the full term then it is important to see your doctor. It could be an infection or it could also lead to miscarriage.
